Smithing Guide

To start smithing, you will need to mine tin, copper, and iron to make bronze and iron bars as you are unable to purchase these from the shop. If you are on a spawn or realism account, they may be available in ::tp.

You get x2 XP if you use the anvil in the Wilderness Resource Area (Skilling necklace teleport, option 3, 1).

Important: If you do not want to smith in the Wilderness, you will need to double the amount of ores and bars listed below as you will not receive the Wilderness XP boost. There is an anvil located two tiles away from the bank at ::di, which can be used as an alternative.

1-24 Smithing

• Teleport to the Mining Guild from the tree at ::home and mine 19 copper and 19 tin (double this if you are not smithing in the Wilderness Resource Area).
• If you want to save time, you could mine your iron ore too (you will need 126 iron ores for levels 24-50).
• Buy a Skilling necklace from Shanomi @ ::shop and have in your inventory:
• 12 unnoted tin
• 12 unnoted copper
• Remainder of tin in noted form
• Remainder of copper in noted form
• 10k coins
• Hammer

• Use Skilling necklace, option 3 - 1.
• Smelt bronze bars in one of the hot vents in the Wilderness Resource Area.
• Smith the bars into any bronze item (choose whichever item requires the most bars to increase speed).
• Use noted ores on the banker and ask him to un-note them so you can smelt and smith the remaining bars.

24-50 Smithing

• Teleport back to the Mining Guild from the tree at ::home and mine 126 iron ores.
• Use your Skilling necklace to teleport to the Wilderness Resource Area (option 3, 1) with:

• 25 unnoted iron ore
• Remainder of ore noted
• Hammer
• 20k coins

Repeat the same process as with bronze bars:

• Smelt the ores on the hot vent.
• Smith the bars into iron war hammers (best XP/hour at this level).

Once finished, drop the iron items, then use noted ores on banker and ask him to un-note them.

50-70 Smithing

From this point, you can buy the bars you need from Shanomi @ ::home.

For levels 50-70, buy 637 mithril bars (17.5m). Continue using the same process in the Wilderness Resource Area. Reminder: Only take what you are comfortable potentially losing – you don’t have to take all 637 bars at once.

You can also do mithril all the way to level 99. This is the most economic route without mining ores yourself. You would need:

12,934 bars for levels 50-99 (355.6m).

70-85 (or 99) Smithing

If you want to save money and do adamant all the way to level 99:

• You will need 9,838 adamant bars (737.8m).

If you prefer a faster route and have money to spend:

• Do adamant for 70-85 with 2,017 adamant bars (151.3m).

85-99 Fast (Expensive)

For the fastest XP (16% faster than adamant):

• Use 6,518 rune bars (2.1b).
• Continue smithing in the Wilderness Resource Area.
