Vardovis Boss Guide

Vardovis is one of the DT2 bosses and requires careful movement and prayer switching to avoid heavy damage. This guide explains how to get there, recommended gear, fight mechanics, and tips for the awakened version.

How to Get There

  1. Use the teleport tree at ::home.
  2. Search for Vardovis and teleport directly to his lair.
  3. Step over the rock to enter the arena and click on Vardovis to start the fight.

Gear Recommendations

Setup Description Image
Oathplate High-level setup (Best in Slot)
Vesta Med/high-level setup
Bandos Med-level setup
Void Budget Void setup

Inventory:

You do not need to bring much, food (anglers/karambwans), a bandos godsword (best for lowering defence here), sanfew/super restores and a supercombat.

Preparing for the Fight

Vardovis attacks primarily with melee but has several mechanics requiring quick reactions:

  • Occasionally, a plant spawns and fires a ranged projectile at you.

Switch to Protect from Missiles to block the hit and prevent your melee prayer from being disabled. After the ranged hit lands, switch back to Protect from Melee.

Tip: Using tile markers can help position yourself to avoid flying axes more effectively.

The Fight

Starting the Fight

At the start, use your Bandos Godsword special attack on Vardovis. Activate Piety and protect from melee while you begin attacking.

Attacks

  1. Entangle:

4/5 red blobs appear on the screen. Quickly click them to avoid taking damage.

  1. Tendrils from the Floor:

Cracks appear under your feet. Move off the tile immediately to avoid damage. They hit 20s so you will want to avoid them.

  1. Flying Axes (Persistent):

Axes fly across the arena throughout the fight. Run out of their path to avoid damage. If you are praying melee, the initial hit is reduced but you will still take bleeding damage.

These can be ran through without taking damage. You need to run through when they are two tiles away - see the video at the bottom of this guide for an example of how to do it!

  1. Plant Attack:

A plant spawns and shoots a projectile at you. Switch to Protect from Missiles. After the hit, immediately switch back to Protect from Melee.

Awakened Version

The awakened version of Vardovis is significantly harder, with faster attacks and additional mechanics:

Increased health: ~1,800 HP (approximate). Flying axes are much faster and appear more frequently. The plant’s ranged attack may fire multiple projectiles in succession. Movement and prayer switching need to be near-perfect to avoid being overwhelmed.

The fight is mostly the same for the most part but the major difference is that there are two different plants now, and from under roughly 50% health two will spawn every time.

Blue = magic Red = range

You will need to pray for the first, once it hits, immediately switch to the other prayer (i.e. magic, then range or vice versa) and finally switch back to melee. This is difficult to do because you must also do it whilst avoiding the axe attacks, which hit 90s in the awakened mode.

Tip: Stay on the suggested tile markers as much as possible to make dodging axes easier.
