Duke Boss Guide
Duke is the easiest of the DT2 bosses and a great place to start. This guide will explain how to get there, recommended gear, fight preparation, and how to handle both normal and special attacks.
How to Get There
Use the teleport tree at ::home
.
Search for Duke
and teleport directly to his lair.
Enter the door, and upon entering, pick up the pickaxe and pestle and mortar from the shelves near the entrance (they are on the south wall).

You do not need to bring much, food (anglers), a bandos godsword (best for lowering defence here), sanfew/super restores and a supercombat or two.
Preparing for the Fight
Gathering Resources
To awaken Duke, you will need:
- 12 mushrooms from each side of the walkways (northeast and northwest).
- 12 mined resources from the mining nodes near the lair.
If you are going to do multiple kills, farm all the resources at the same time and create the potions after each kill.
Tip: It is highly recommended to have at least 50 Herblore. With low Herblore, you gather only 1 mushroom per spot, while higher levels yield up to 12 per mushroom.
1. Gather mushrooms and mined resources. 2. Use the pestle and mortar on the mushrooms. 3. Combine resources at the barrel near the entrance to create potions. 4. Use the potions on Duke to start the fight.

The Fight
Normal Attacks
Stand behind the pillar at all times. Flinch Duke by attacking directly after his stomping attack animation. You can tell when he is about to stomp because there is an animation on the floor directly before the slam. If you stray too far from Duke, he will launch magic attacks. Always stay within 1 tile of Duke when he scans the room for his attack (he scans the room just before the white animation shows every 5 ticks normally but 4 ticks in the enrage phase).
Tip: Always stay behind the pillar unless you’re attacking (you can also stand anywhere within 1 tile of Duke but it's recommended that you stay behind the pillar)
Special Attacks
Eyeball Attack
When Duke summons an eyeball that covers your screen, stand behind the pillar until the animation ends. Resume attacking once it’s over.

Gas Attack
Duke shoots a gas ball at your location. Run to the pillar on the opposite side of the arena to avoid damage.
Once Duke is under 200 HP, he will shoot 2 gas clouds, one after the other, so you don't want to run too quickly or else the second bomb will leave an acid cloud behind the pillar you are running to.
Enrage Phase
When Duke drops below 100 HP, he enters the enrage phase. All attacks become slightly faster (from 5-tick to 4-tick attacks). Keep flinching and rotating between pillars as needed.
The fight doesn't change apart from the speed.
Awakened Version
The awakened version of Duke is significantly more challenging, with increased health and faster attack speeds.
Total HP: ~1,500 (approximate). It retains the same basic mechanics as the normal fight but adds new phases and attack patterns.
Phase Mechanics
Above 76% HP (1,150 HP): Duke only uses 1 gas cloud during the gas attack phase.
- Below 76% HP (1,150 HP):
Duke now uses 4 gas clouds in a spread pattern.
You will need to dodge these carefully.
Here are suggested tile markers to help you position properly:

- Below 1,000 HP:
After every acid attack, there is a chance Duke will cover you in bile for 15 ticks.
While affected, you must keep walking to avoid damage, but ensure you stay within melee range when Duke scans the room or he will fire a magic attack that can hit up to 40.
Tip: You don’t need perfect movement here, but being able to manage this phase well will save significant food.
- Below X HP (Final Phase):
A shadow attack sweeps across the arena dealing damage (can hit up to 20s but often less).
This can usually be ignored as long as you continue dealing consistent damage to finish the fight.
