Fight Guide

Preparing for the Fight

For Leviathan, shadow/blowpipe are the best weapons and a webweaver spec is helpful in the enrage phase. However, it is possible to get kills with budget gear like void with a crossbow.

You will need to ensure that you are on ancients and have shadow barrage (or another shadow spell) regardless of which combat style you use. These spells are used to trigger the special attacks and to get a free hit with increased damage off.

Once you enter the fight, you will come up against the following attacks.

Normal Attacks

Pray according to the chart above and after several attacks Leviathan will stop attacking briefly. This is where you will want to use your shadow spell on him as this stops him from attacking you and allows you to run behind him and get an attack off which has increased damage and starts one of Leviathan's special attacks.

Throughout the fight, you will be using smoke spells after each cycle of attacks until the enrage phase.

At the end of this phase, when Leviathan stops attacking and looks up, this is where you should use shadow barrage on him and then run behind him (to the opposite side of the arena) before hitting him again.

This also shows how you dodge the rock attacks – just walk off the tiles with shadows on them.

Leviathan Special Attacks

Rock Attack

Every 1 game tick Leviathan will shoot a rock at you. Line the rocks up as shown and take cover behind them to avoid damage.

Here is a quick video which shows the timing and how to use the rocks to protect yourself from the shockwave: Click here

Lightning Attack

This attack can be avoided with precise movement. It’s recommended to learn this, but if it’s easier, you can just continue running around Leviathan.

Here is a quick video which shows how to avoid the lightning: Click here

Basically, you need to run across the lightning when it is 1 tile away from you.

Enrage Phase

In the enrage phase, walk close to the white orb and attack Leviathan while managing your prayers. Focus on your prayers first, and attack when safe (e.g., when there are multiple ranged attacks in a row or when you are high health).

You must stay close to the orb; you can tell if you are close enough because your character will change color while within range.

If you have a webweaver bow, this is a good time to use your special attack to kill the boss quicker.

Awakened Mode

In Awakened mode, Leviathan’s mechanics are significantly more punishing, and small mistakes can easily lead to a failed attempt. Mastery of this mode requires precise timing, movement, and strategy.

Shadow Barrage Spam

You will need to spam shadow barrage spells – as soon as Leviathan starts another basic attack cycle, immediately use shadow barrage on him to trigger the next special attack.

This is crucial because in Awakened mode, if you wait until the end of his basic attack cycle, five rocks will permanently drop onto the arena floor. It is vital to keep the arena as clear of rockfall as possible to make the enraged phase slightly easier.

Tornado Mechanics

At 50% HP (1350 HP), a tornado will spawn and begin following you. If the tornado touches you, it will deal 40–50 damage, so it must be avoided at all costs.

Lightning Special with Tornado

During the lightning attack, the tornado will still follow you. To avoid taking damage:

Either run around the arena to continue avoiding the lightning and tornado, or learn how to do the pattern (which has the same timing as regular lightning) here: Click here

Building Rock Lines

In the first 50% of Leviathan’s health, focus on building rock lines that you can later use in conjunction with the rocks you will place in the second half.

Because of the tornado, you will not use the rocks you are placing as cover - you will instead walk from 10 or more tiles away to a rock wall you placed earlier and then stand behind that to avoid the shockwave. You will want to place the rocks as close to the edge of the arena as you walk to the old rock wall.

An example of how this works can be seen here: Click here

Enraged Phase

The enraged phase is very unforgiving and incredibly difficult to complete. However, there are strategies to increase your chances:

  • Overheal before entering the enraged phase.
  • Use 2 Webweaver specs to burst damage quickly.
  • Equip and rely on Phoenix necklaces to heal you in emergencies.

Precise prayer switching is critical here, but with these tactics, even players who aren’t perfect at switching prayers can still secure a completion.
